Volvo India has rolled out the latest variant of S60, its luxury sedan, with the powerful D3 engine. Christened the Volvo S60 D3, the car will be offered by the Swedish manufacturer in two trims – Kinetic and Summum.
The new variant, priced at Rs. 23.9 lacs, possesses all the features of a luxury sedan, but with a much more powerful engine. This car has a 1984 cc D3 diesel engine that is capable of producing maximum power of 160 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm. Volvo has supplemented the new model with a 6 speed manual gearbox to enhance the mileage that it delivers. It can move from naught to 100 kmph in just 9.2 seconds due to its excellent pick up.
S60 D3 has been equipped with various safety features that allow drivers to maintain control over the car even at high speeds, such as Antilock Braking System with hydraulic brake assist and ready brake alerts. It also has dual stage airbags for driver and front passenger to avoid injuries in case of accidents.
In terms of comfort, the car has been assimilated with a powerful air conditioning system with electronic climate control feature. The premium quality upholstery used by the Swedish car maker in this variant renders it an opulent feel. Features like power windows and power steering make the driving experience more pleasurable for passengers.
New entry level variants of S80 and XC60 with D3 engine have also hit the roads in same trims. The D3 editions of all the models have been introduced in the domestic market with a discount of Rs. 70,000, which is applicable till March 2012.
