The Indian debut of this car was in 2012 and BMW-owned subsidiary Mini brand had sold only 1123 units since then. The lack of demand is the primary cause behind the unexpected stopping of assembling. However, BMW has cited reasons that the model is all set to go through a set of change in its generation. All Mini models will thus, be sold in India through the completely built-up unit (CBU) route.

According to the reports, India is the 100th market for the brand still it has not been able to catch the wind. Also, Fiat 500 and Volkswagen Beetle failed to impress the crowd on similar lines. Let us see whether the new generation cars make any impact in the market. The current portfolio of BMW includes 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, 3 Series Gran Turismo, X3, X1 and X5.
