French car manufacturer, Renault is working on an all-new sub-compact SUV for the European and other developing nations. If media reports are to be believed, the new crossover will be positioned below the Duster SUV. The vehicle has already been spotted several times during its test rounds, and it seems inspired with the compact cars, including Captur and Sandero.

The small ingredients of the crossover seem inspired by Sandero and it is expected to get simple front fascia. In Europe, this crossover is speculated to be positioned under the Captur. Expect Dacia badge for the European markets, while the first launch would take place under Renault’s portfolio. Few media reports also suggest that this crossover will be based on the Nissan Qashqai platform, but this would make it costlier.

The urban crossover rides on small alloy wheels, while the entry spec models are expected to feature steel wheels. Just like the Duster SUV, the company intent to offer more budget friendly crossover to buyers. At the back, the vehicle likely to get simple look with windscreen featuring single wiper, while the tail lamps and other elements likely to be shared with Captur.

It is yet to be known whether this sub-compact crossover will come to India or not, but we believe that the company could bring this product in our market against Ford EcoSport and upcoming SUVs such as Mahindra S101, Tata Nexon and Honda’s Brio based crossover. This crossover is expected to go on sale in 2015, while the India launch could take place by 2016-17.
