The Japanese automaker, Honda will launch the much-awaited Jazz in India today. The premium hatchback’s diesel model is claimed to be the most fuel efficient car in its league, and the second most frugal car in the country. Just so you know, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel that returns 27.62kmpl (ARAI-rated), is India’s most fuel-efficient car.

The 2015 Jazz will be launched in two engine options - a 100PS, 1.5-litre Earth Dreams i-DTEC diesel and 90PS, 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol – that also power the Amaze. For achieving the higher fuel efficiency, Honda has increased the gear ratios of the Jazz by 8% compared to the City. The diesel mill is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that helps it deliver a class-leading fuel economy of 27.3kmpl. Whereas, the petrol unit with a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox with paddle shifter (first-in-segment), returns 18.7kmpl and 19kmpl respectively.
