Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd (NMIPL), the Indian venture of the leading Japanese car maker Nissan, has reported a jump of over 58.50 per cent in its monthly sales in July 2011. The managed to sell 1,593 units of its car during this month as compared to 1,005 units sold in the same month previous year.

In a statement issued on its performance during the month, the company said, "The Micra compact hatchback - the first model to be produced at Nissan's Chennai plant - is driving this sales boost and accounted 1,550 units in July 2011 as against 928 units in July 2010."

So far, the company’s popular hatchback Nissan Micra has been the biggest contributor in the company’s sales since last one year. The petrol version of Micra model was launch in July 2010, followed by its high powered diesel version in December 2010. The car hasn’t been able to perform as per expectations as it has been receiving a stiff competition from the likes of Ford Figo, Maruti Swift & Ritz, Volkswagen Polo and recently unveiled Toyota Etios Liva hatchback. Besides selling in the Indian market, the company is also exporting the car in a number of foreign markets from India.

Meanwhile, the company is all set to unveil its much awaited mid-size sedan Nissan Sunny in the country with a different name. The car was launched in the Chinese market a few months back.

Besides Micra, the company sales luxury sedan Nissan Teana and luxury sports utility vehicle Nissan X-Trail.
