Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming premium hatchback – YRA (code-name) – has been snapped ahead of its launch in festive season (October- November, 2015). To be positioned above the Swift, the Maruti Suzuki YRA will compete against the Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and the upcoming Honda Jazz.
The new spyshots reveal the exterior and interior details of the hatchback. On the front end, the car features peeled-back projector headlights and a chrome grille. The side profile gets wind mirror with mounted turn indicators, chrome door handles with keyless entry and 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear end, the car spots a rear wiper and washer, bootlid with hidden reverse camera, a high-mounted brake light and an integrated rear spoiler.
Inside, the hatchback gets an all-black interior, centre console with silver highlights and vertical HVAC vents with a touchscreen entertainment system, three-spoke steering wheel with mounted audio and cruise control. Other features include a passenger-side airbag deactivation switch, climate control, heated front seats, etc.
Power for the Maruti Suzuki YRA comes from Suzuki’s all-new 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. The former will be boasted with direct injection technology, and is claimed to return higher fuel economy than the regular 1.0-litre. Based on an all-new lightweight global compact platform, the YRA will measure 4,023 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, 1,450 mm in height, and feature a wheelbase of 2,520 mm.
The Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchback will be sold exclusively at the company’s premium dealerships – Nixa – within the price bracket of Rs. 5.5 lakh – Rs. 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
