The 2015 Mahindra XUV500 facelift has been teased ahead of its launch on May 25, 2015. The teaser image also talks about a contest - ‘Win the New Age XUV500’ - that asks participants to guess three additional featuresof the XUV500 facelift, and write a creative slogan about the SUV. The winner will get the new Mahindra XUV500 for free.
Talking about the engine, the Mahindra XUV500 facelift will continue to feature the 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that also powers the existing model. It churns out a maximum power output of 140bhp with 330Nm of torque. Mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the powertrain is claimed to return a fuel economy of 15.1kmpl. Both the 2WD and 4WD drivetrain will also continue to be on offer. That said, the the new model might also get a new automatic transmission.
On the front fascia, the car features a new chrome grille, new Scorpio-inspired LED daytime running light, chrome-finished fog light enclosures and revised headlight cluster. Other exterior updates include new alloy wheel design, re-designed chrome-garnished registration plate enclosure and rear door. The car might also be offered in a new Plum shade. The interior of the new XUV500 looks largely similar to the current model, though It might receive a new Plum shade on the seats and beige plastic inserts.
Upon its launch, the 2015 Mahindra XUV500 will take on the likes of Nissan Terrano, Tata Safari Strome, Renault Duster and Skoda Yeti. It is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 11.50 lakh – Rs. 16 lakh.
