General Motors India, the domestic arm of American auto maker, seems all set to introduce a new Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV), Enjoy in the auto market. The Vice President of GM India, P Balendran has said that the model will sparkle at the Indian roads in a couple of months. Reportedly, it will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options, catering to the demand of a large section of society.

Enjoy will be one of the three models, which are borrowed by the Chevrolet from China’s GM-SAIC partnership. According to sources, the first model was Sail U-VA hatchback, introduced in November 2012, which was then followed by the launch of Sail sedan on February 1.

Industry experts believe that the MPV will be introduced in the market during early April 2013, post Union Budget, so as to appeal the price sensitive Indian buyers. The auto maker has pinned high hopes with its upcoming model and is looking ahead for a revival in the current market situation.

Talking about under-the-hood figures of Chevrolet Enjoy, the petrol model is expected to feature a 1.4 litre engine, whereas the diesel guise will come incorporated with a 1.3 litre multijet engine. The petrol engine is anticipated to churn out a maximum power of 93 bhp with highest torque output of 127 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel guise will belt out a maximum power output of 88 bhp with 200 Nm of peak torque. With these figures, it seems that Enjoy will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which is currently ruling the entry level MPV segment.

With the launch of new models, GM India is planning to improve its sales in the Indian auto market, which are not so overwhelming. The auto maker has set a sales target with a growth of up to 50 per cent, which seems quite aggressive. As the pricing of Enjoy is not sure as of now, nothing can be said on its success in the Indian market as a large section of buyers here are price sensitive.
