Volkswagen will launch Vento facelift in India during festive season this year. One of the major changes made to the mechanical set up of new Vento is the replacement of 1.6 litre engine with the new 1.5 litre diesel engine that is also offered on the new Polo. Yet another significant addition is the availability of automatic gearbox on the diesel variant. Prices will remain unchanged and the updated Vento will continue to be offered at same price.
Among the cosmetic changes made on the exterior front new head lamps, revised bumpers, single slat grille in the front, cornering lights, anew body colour and redesigned alloy wheels are likely to be incorporated on new Vento.
Spruced up cabin includes the new three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel and centre console with silver inserts. A new multi-information display along with light seat fabrics will be embedded inside the cabin.
As mentioned in the beginning the diesel variant will get the new 1.5 litre diesel powertrain that is capable of outputting a maximum power and torque output of 109 PS and 250 Nm. A six-speed DSG automatic transmission is also expected to be offered on the diesel variant along with the five-speed manual gearbox.
Petrol range of new Vento could be housed with either the 1.6 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a five peed tranny or a 1.2 litre TSI engine synchronised to a seven-speed DSG transmission. In the sedan segment modified Vento will compete with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, Ford Fiesta, Nissan Sunny and upcoming Ciaz sedan.
