Japanese carmaker Toyota recently trademarked the name Rumion in the country, dropping a hint at its new vehicle for the Indian market. The rumours circulating on the internet suggest that the Rumion will be the rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga like the Toyota Glanza and Urban Cruiser.

Toyota showcased the Ertiga-based Rumion for the South African market a week ago. And it is reportedly coming to India as well. The Toyota Rumion is an identical twin of the Ertiga in terms of exterior and interior. However, the new grille, alloy wheels and Toyota badge make it stand out from its Maruti Suzuki counterpart.

The Rumion for the South African market gets a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that comes paired to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. This motor produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. If Toyota brings the rebadged Ertiga as the Rumion to India, it most likely will bear the same specifications.

Meanwhile, there have been instances of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz-based Toyota vehicle being spied testing in the country. This Ciaz-based sedan is believed to be Toyota's new sedan for India, named Belta. Having said that, Toyota has not officially confirmed when it is going to launch the ‘Rumion’ or ‘Belta’ in the country.
