Tata Nano has earned it title for being India's most affordable car, The compact and practical small car has earned its fair share of positive as well a negative feedbacks since it launch in the country a couple of years ago. Some loved the car for its price and convenience, others equally seemed to be unhappy with its safety and performance numbers. But nevertheless, the small car had been a good choice for the price tag it came for.
As per a recent update from officials at Tata Motors the popular Nano is expected to be launched with an AMT version next month. AMT version will be bestowed on the F-Tronic variant of the petite hatchback. Under the hood, the same low displacement 624cc engine will be equipped as seen in the regular model of Nano F-Tronic. The two-cylinder petrol engine is capable of engendering a top power and torque output of 38 PS and 51 Nm respectively. A five-speed automated manual transmission will be paired with the petrol engine. Tata will source AMT gearbox from Magneti Marelli, currently the F-Tronic variant comes with four-speed manual transmission. The company is also developing a 800 cc diesel engine, though there is not confirmation stating whether this engine will be used as Nano diesel or not.
On the exterior front, the hatchback will be equipped with smoked head lights, revamped bumpers and a functional hatch door. Inside the cabin, a new three spoke steering wheel and new dashboard trims will be seen. The test mule of the AMT version of Nano has been spotted a number of times across Tata’s manufacturing unit located in Pune. A hypothetical price of Rs 2.6 lakh is being expected for the Nano AMT variant.
