      Nissan India registers 73 percent surge in sales during September 2011

      Nissan Motors India Pvt Limited (NIMPL), the Indian subsidiary of the leading Japanese car maker Nissan, has registered a sales jump of 73 percent in the month of September 2011. The company managed to sell 2,176 units of its car during the month as compared to 1,256 units sold in the same months last year.

      The flagship India portfolio model – Nissan Micra – remained the biggest contributor to the company’s sales during the month. The company managed to sell 1,475 units of its Micra hatchback during the month, as compared to 1,183 units sold in the same month last year, accounting for a sales increase of 25 percent. Nissan Micra is currently competing with the likes of Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Etios Liva, Skoda Fabia etc.

      Besides Micra, the other contributor in NIMPL’s September sales include luxury compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) Nissan X-Trail, luxury sedan Nissan Teana and sports car Nissan 370Z.

      Meanwhile, the recently launched mid-size sedan Nissan sunny is receiving an overwhelming response from the Indian buyers of this segment. The car, which was launched in the Indian market on 20th September, has so far received 659 bookings in 10 days of its launch. The company will start delivering the car from later this week.
