      New Mini expected to be launched in India next year

      BMW India is getting ready to launch new-generation Mini in India by the early next year. A three and five door variants of Mini will be rolled out in domestic market. The three door variant of the vehicle is likely to be larger than the current model. Rumours opine that the company will bring the Cooper or Cooper S model in domestic market while the One trim will not be brought to India. New Mini will be based on the front wheel drive UKL architecture. New Mini’s three-door version will measure 3821 mm long, 1727 mm wide and 1415 mm high. Power will come from a 1.5 litre, petrol and diesel engines. On the other hand the more powerful ‘S’ variant will house a 2.0 litre, four cylinder engines. The 3-door Mini variant is expected to be priced between Rs 28 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.

      A five-door variant of Mini will also be rolled out in India, it will be based on the three-door variant and will offer an extended wheelbase of 72 mm. Five-door variant will possess relatively enhanced dimensions as compared to the three-door variant, it will be 161mm longer, 11mm higher and will have a 67 litre larger boot space.

      Engine set will be the same as seen in the three door version and all the engines are likely to be matched to six-speed manual and automatic transmissions transmitting power to the front wheels. The five-door variant of Mini will compete with vehicles like Mercedes Benz A Class, BMW 1 Series from the point of view of body size. On the price front we expect Mini five door version to be priced between Rs 30 lakh to Rs 32 lakh.
