In a bid to improve its sales in the Indian market, Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to launch a bunch of new cars in the next 18-20 months. Of all the cars that the company will launch two of them will be all new SUVs - the S101 mini SUV and the U301 Bolero. Besides these two new SUVs, Mahindra owned SsangYong too will roll out a new SUV - the Korando - which has been spotted several times during its test rounds here. Though Mahindra officials are yet to confirm the launch details of the car, we believe it will come here by the end of this year.

The home-grown automaker will locally produce the Korando SUV to keep its price competitive in India. The Korando will directly rival against the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the upcoming Hyundai ix25. Ssangyong had launched the new Korando facelift in 2013, which received much-needed changes to exteriors and interiors. The new model has new headlamps with projector lighting, new grille with chrome treatment, new alloy wheels and new bumpers. Inside, the SUV gets new upholstery for seats and new instrument cluster.

In Korea, the Korando is offered in two engine options - 2.0-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol, which are paired to either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The turbo-diesel engine is tuned to offer two power output figures - 149PS and 175PS, while the petrol motor offers 149PS of power. The vehicle will also get several exciting safety features including six airbags, Anti-Lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution, rear parking sensors, hill start assist, etc.
