The world is set for Jeep Grand Wagoneer SUV, which is expected to be launched globally by 2018. It has been confirmed now that the car will become a flagship model and it will give competition to already-famous models like Range Rovers and other high-performing 4x4 SUVs. Jeep global Director Michael Manley said in a statement, “Part of my plan says there is space for us above the Grand Cherokee. I’ve always talked about Grand Wagoneer, and that for me is a big focus and will fill out the brand at the top.”

The first glimpse of the Jeep SUV was obtained at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 and it was said the Grand Wagoneer will make a comeback. When asked about this, Manley said, “I think that vehicle (Grand Wagoneer) will very, very effectively compete with premium SUVs.” Manley made this declaration at the recently concluded Paris Motor Show.

The Grand Wagoneer is expected to have three rows of seating, just like the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover. Such a seating system is also prevalent in the Land Rover Discovery as well as Mercedes-Benz GL. However, Manley cleared the air about not rivalling against the Maserati Levante. Though levanter has some platform similarity with the Grand Cherokee, it has some difference from the Wagoneer platform. “Maserati and Jeep are two very different brands. I have zero sleepless nights about the launch of their vehicle. The Levante will play in a part of the market that Jeep is not playing in. “Range Rover is a different story (to Maserati).” he said. “Jeep and Range Rover have historically competed. Range Rover is the other pure SUV brand in the world. So, they will always be our competitors.”
