South Korean automaker Hyundai is on a roll in the Indian market and is gathering the limelight for all the right reasons. A couple of days back, it launched the Creta Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), which will rival the likes of Renault Duster and Mahindra Scorpio. Now, according to a report by Motoroids, India’s largest passenger car exporter is working on the production of an SUV, which is going to compete with the highly successful Ford EcoSport model. The Creta model opened to a fantastic response and company officials claimed that it has already garnered a large number of bookings.

While Creta, priced in the Rs. 8.5-11 lakh region will challenge the market of Mahindra Scorpio, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano, Hyundai still does not have a direct rival to the Ford EcoSport, which is somewhat a matter of concern. However, it now seems that the firm has realised this void and is working on filling it pretty soon. The standout characteristics of the new model will be its sub-four meter length and aggressive pricing.

Though everything being said at the moment is mere speculation, it is almost certain that Hyundai will base the new compact SUV on the i20 Elite model, which has managed to perform really well in the Indian market. The Hyundai i20 Elite is powered by 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines. Experts feel that the SUV from Hyundai could perform really well, considering the number of features the South Korean automaker provides in its new models. Furthermore, given the response that has been dealt to Creta, there is no doubt in the fact the new sub-four meter compact SUV will also be a winner.
