It is a common scene to witness people on their bikes wearing helmets not for their protection but just for getting past the traffic police. As a matter of fact, one might also have witnessed a situation where he/she had been given a ticket for not wearing a helmet while a few moments past the incident, the same police official would be seen riding without one. A similar situation happened in Maharashtra.

It was a rush hour in Maharashtra when Transport Minister Diwakar Raote saw two women police officials on a bike without helmet. The citizens of the country usually blame the police for not being the same towards other officials, which is why, Raote summoned a traffic police man and asked him to fine the two law-breakers.

Raote also informed that riding without a helmet is an unsafe habit and needs to be mended. Wearing helmets has been made compulsory for the safety of the riders and by not wearing this safety device; they risk their lives and disobey the law. Moreover, if the officials might not have been fined, it would have given a wrong message to the public. This is why, action was taken right on the spot and the lady police officials were reprimanded at the moment.

Riding without a helmet is under strict scrutiny throughout India. If the law protectors break the law themselves, a natural instinct overpowers the ordinary citizens to follow them. Nevertheless, breaking any such traffic law is refrained upon by the officials as well as the law. This is why, traffic police sets up check-posts at many corners around the city. This helps in keeping a check on the crime as well as reprimand those who exclude themselves from obeying such traffic rules.

There are witnesses that have seen police officials breaking the law. Unfortunately, maximum cases in India are of the officials accepting a bribe. But the police department of the country is also getting aware of it and is trying its best to protect the law instead of using the upper hand.
