      Hyundai Sonata and Indian Polo Association enters into a joint venture

      At the Jaipur Polo Ground in New Delhi, the Hyundai Sonata Ambassadors Cup concluded on 11th March 2012. General V.K Singh, Chief of Army Staff, marked his presence at the final match as the chief guest. The association of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) with polo reflects the company’s dedication to promote sports in the country.

      HMIL has set up its association with many sports across the globe and has made tie-ups with cricket and football tournaments. Four teams participated in the polo tournament, which lasted for four days.

      Mentioning about the polo tournament, Mr. Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “We are delighted to associate with the Indian Polo Association for the Hyundai Sonata Ambassadors Cup 2012. The Sonata is a premium offering from Hyundai, tie-up with the Indian Polo Association that promotes a fine sport like polo provides a great match for both the Sonata and polo.”

      Along with Sonata, the venue was also highlighted with the presence of luxury Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Santa Fe and the sedan segment leader Verna. In the executive segment, the company also showcased international three-door Veloster and it’s much awaited Elantra.

      Apart from Hyundai Sonata team, five other participants were Vayamtech, Jindal Steel and Power, Hyatt Regency, Sahgal Stud/APRC and Black Dog. The final match held on 11th March attracted large number of sports lovers towards the venue.

      Army band present on the grounds played impressive tune, which created a magnificence atmosphere. Similar to Hyundai's latest cars, Sonata is also designed on the principles of ‘Fluidic Sculpture’. The new sixth generation of Hyundai Sonata has several appealing features like front seat warmers, front and rear seat ventilation, cruise control, high intensity Xenon headlights, paddle shift, 4-way power adjustable front co-driver seat and a 10-way adjustable power seat with lumbar support.

      The company has also incorporated several safety advancements in its new Sonata that include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD), six airbags, smart key with push button for easy start/stop and rear view camera. Apart from the features that improve the driving experience, the car also boasts X-shaped centre fascia and the VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) cluster.

      Mated with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission, the performance oriented 2.4 litre GDi petrol engine is capable of generating high power. Performance and fuel economy is increased due to the incorporation of GDI technology as high pressure fuel is directly passed in the combustion chamber. In order to deliver a hassle free drive, the company has equipped an excellent suspension system within its car that has high-end Amplitude Selective Damper (ASD).

      HMIL, a completely owned division of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), is the second largest car maker in India. The company also holds the badge of largest passenger car exporter in the country. HMIL currently offers eighth model in passenger car segment. In the A2 segment, the company offers i10, Eon, Santro and the i20, whereas the A3 segment comprises Accent and the Verna. Sonata is positioned in the A5 segment is filled and the SUV segment has Santa Fe.

      The company has based its state-of-the-art manufacturing unit near Chennai that has hi-tech quality testing and production facilities. HMIL plays a major role as the global export hub for its parent company HMC. Since 1998, the company’s export reached 1 Million mark in exports in 10 years of operation. At present, the company exports in 120 countries across EU, Latin America Africa, Middle East, and the Asia Pacific. For six years consecutively, HMIL has attained the position of the number one exporter.

      In February 2008, the company established its second manufacturing unit which has the capacity to produce 330,000 units each year. The reason behind setting up this unit was to cater to the increasing demand.

      Moreover, to support its growth plans, HMIL has set up 788 service points and 341 dealerships across the country. An advanced multi-million dollar R&D facility in Hyderabad has been established to provide world class technology to its customers. In the field of automobile engineering, this advanced centre holds a prime position.

      Hyundai
