After receiving an excellent response for the new Elite i20, Hyundai India is now aiming to further extend its market share with its upcoming products in 2015. The company is gearing up for the launch of i20 based crossover and much-awaited ix25 compact SUV. If media reports are to be believed, the ix25 SUV will hit the Indian shores in the first half of 2015. Buoyed by the success of Elite i20 hatchback, the company is now contemplating more products on this platform.

The Hyundai ix25 compact SUV will also see 90 per cent of localization, which will help the company price it competitive in the market. The company is planning to strengthen its compact SUV and sedan portfolio, and is planning to launch new i20 based crossover, Verna and Elantra facelift and ix25 compact SUV in 2015.

The Hyundai ix25 compact SUV will rival against the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and other upcoming SUVs. Based on the company’s Fluidic Sculpture version 2.0 design philosophy, the compact SUV gets aggressive exteriors and comfortable interiors. The front fascia of the SUV gets prominent hexagonal grille flanked by larger headlamps, muscular front bumper, large air dam and fog lamps. At the rear, the SUV gets large headlamps and aggressive bumper. It features plastic body cladding all around the body to offer sporty characteristics.

Likely to share engine lineup with Hyundai Verna, the ix25 compact SUV will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. A 1.4-litre CRDi diesel and the 1.4-litre petrol unit could be on offer. While the petrol engine is expected to feature a five-speed manual gearbox, the diesel engine will be paired to a six-speed manual gearbox.
