Japanese carmaker Honda has held a soft corner among Indian car buyers. The new City sedan has been a hit, as always noted with its previous counterparts too. The waiting list for the City sedan has now reportedly stretched to about a couple of months in the country. With the growing trend and demand for Compact SUV's in the country, Honda has been reportedly working on developing its very own Compact SUV for the local masses. The Compact SUV back up with Honda branding is definitely expected to perform well in the Indian market. Post launch the vehicle may emerge as a new strong contender against Ford Ecosport and Renault Duster in the country.
Speaking on Honda's plans for launching a compact SUV for the Indian market, Mr Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president, sales and marketing, HCIL quoted, “Yes, we are studying it, as SUV is a potential and growing segment. We will adopt the strategy, considering the market requirements.” The company is also due to bring-in the new Jazz next year. Apart from style the upcoming Jazz hatchback is expected to be loaded with world class features and technology.
As believed earlier that the internationally popular names like Honda HR-V/Vezel shall make it to India soon, Honda have revealed that these cars shall not make it to the domestic market. The 2015 Honda Jazz may receive Honda's Earth Dreams Technology based 1.3 litre i-VTEC petrol engine. Specification or external design details for the upcoming compact SUV and Jazz for Indian market is not known for now. Detailed report on the specification and pricing shall be known post announcement made by the company in this regard.
