      Honda City enters the list top 10 selling cars in India in 2014-15

      Registering a sales record of 101, 299 units, since its launch, the Honda City has entered the list of 10 best selling cars in India in financial year FY 15 ( 1st April 2014 – 31st March 2015). In this financial year, the City reported a growth of 115.9% with total sales of 77,384 units. It’s the highest ever registered growth rate on the list by any carmaker in the industry.

      According to the data released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the Maruti Suzuki Alto, with sales of 2,64,492 units in 2014-15, was the top-selling car in the list. In the 2013-14, the compact hatchback registered sales of 2,58,281 units for same period. The Maruti Suzuki Swift, Dzire and WagonR consecutively acquired the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ranks on the list.

      Honda City

      Interestingly, the Maruti Suzuki Alto has succeeded to maintain the top position for the tenth time. The Swift, 2nd best-selling car, reported total sales of 2,01,338 units in FY14-15, which was 1,98,571 units in FY14. The Swift Dzire, with a growth of 2.4% and sales of 1, 92, 010 units, holds the third position, while the WagonR registered a 3.12% sales growth with 1,61,250 units in FY15 against 1,56,369 units in previous year.

      Hyundai’s Grand i10, Eon and Elite i20 captured the 5th, 6th and 7th spot with sales of 99,088 units, 78,334 units and 77,747 units respectively. While the 8th, 9th and 10th position are acquired by the Honda City, Maruti Celerio and Honda Amaze, respectively. The Indian auto industry witnessed total sales of 18,76,017 cars in financial year FY 2014-15.
