Honda BR-V prototype has been revealed recently in Indonesia and the Japanese automaker will be introducing the BR-V in India sometime in 2016. The BR-V is based on the Brio platform, and is a tad longer than 4 metres. The BR-V’s fascia reminds us somewhat of the Mobilio and the side profile is a lot similar to a crossover than an MPV. The rear has tail lamps that are stylish and the back looks appealing.

The BR-V will be a seven-seater SUV that will be powered by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. This will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. There will also be a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine too, which will come with a six-speed manual and CVT (continuously variable transmission) option too.

The BR-V will be priced at Rs 10.5-14 lakhs (ex-showroom price) and will be competing with the Renault Duster and the Hyundai Creta. However, the BR-V’s advantage is that it will be a seven-seater. The BR-V will be made available in three to four variants. Honda calls the BR-V as the crossover version of the existing Mobilio. The interiors are different from that of the Mobilio as it is a lot muscular than the MPV. It is an SUV with the space of an MPV.

The general list of bells and whistles available on the BR-V are fog lamps, projector headlamps, infotainment touchscreen system with Bluetooth, reverse parking camera and USB. The other features include steering mounted audio controls, multiple airbags and ABS. In Indonesia, the BR-V will be launched with six colour options: White, green pearl, passion red pearl, crystal black pearl, white and steel metallic.
