BMW India has launched 7 Series ActiveHybrid in domestic market priced at Rs 1.35 crore (ex-showroom price) . BMW’s first hybrid vehicle has been brought to India as a completely built unit. Powering the all new 7 Series AtiveHybrid is an athletic 3.0 litre, six-cylinder, in-line engine that is capable of developing a maximum power output of 320 Bhp and a top torque of 450 Nm. Along with the 3.0 litre engine, BMW has also fitted an electric motor that engenders 55 Bhp of power output and 210 Nm of torque. The robust engine enables the vehicle to propel from o to 100 kmph within 5.6 seconds and hits an electronically controlled speed of 250 kmph. BMW 7 Series ActiveHybrid is expected to return a decent mileage of 15 kms in a litre and is claimed to run up to 60 kph in only electric mode. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a ZF eight speed automatic gearbox. The ZF automatic transmission also enables decreased fuel consumption by six per cent when it works in symbioses with electric motor. It further enhances fuel economy of the vehicle.
