Bajaj Auto seems to be on a role in the Indian market and getting behind TVS Motor in the race for market share is something it has taken really seriously. It is planning to launch multiple products, which includes the Bajaj Discover F150 and Pulsar SS 400. The latter was spotted testing in the country and pictures of it have been doing rounds on the internet.

Indian Cars Bikes have taken the photograph of a mule that was up for testing and it could be either the Bajaj Pulsar SS 400 or the Pulsar 200 SS. The first of those two was showcased by the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer at the 2014 Auto Expo, gathering a lot of hype and buzz. Sources have claimed that both these models are set to be launched in the Indian market by the end of the festive season this year.

The reason why the difference could not be spotted was due to it being covered in typical testing manner and Bajaj does only so much in designing products in a distinct way. However, if indeed it was the Bajaj Pulsar SS 400, exciting times are ahead for bike aficionados in the country. Featuring a faired design, the model showcased at Auto Expo 2014 included projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights in the shape of eyebrows, stubby silencer end can, two piece LED tail light and mono suspension.

Nothing can be certified at the moment until official confirmation comes from Bajaj Auto but the mechanical configuration of Bajaj Pulsar SS 400 is quite predictable. The sports bike has been tipped to borrow its engine from KTM 390, meaning it will be fitted with a 373 cc single-cylinder unit that will produce an output of 39.4 bhp. Launch of the Bajaj Pulsar SS 400 will take the legacy of the series to another level and the manufacturer would move towards the next level of bikes. Pro 250 cc bikes in India have a growing market and the Bajaj Pulsar SS 400, due to its brand value and popularity, will find a lot of buyers.

Bajaj Auto’ decision to not focus on the scooter segment might not be doing it any favour in improving rankings but its domination in the bike vertical is unquestionable. Pulsar, by far, is the most popular bike series in the country even though it may not be the best selling, meaning that Bajaj Auto is at the back of consumers’ mind and retention is not an issue. Bajaj Pulsar 400 SS is one of the most eagerly awaited bikes of recent times and its launch could take the popularity of sports bikes to another level.
