During this week's Guangzhou Auto Show BMW revealed in an interview with a Chinese newspaper that it aims at exporting the China-made BMW 5-series sedan oversees in the forthcoming months.
The 5-series sedan from premium car company enjoys a successful market share in the automobile industry of China. The latest upgraded version of BMW 5-series sedan was introduced in 2010 and promptly emerged as a pioneer mid-sized luxury sedan available in China's car market today.
The sedan is manufactured in China by Brilliance-BMW, a joint venture company located in Shenyang, China. However, the BMW 5-series GT range is imported to China and sold at a higher price in comparison to the locally produced 5-series.
Company officials are yet to reveal the exact locations to which the BMW 5-series is gearing up to be imported. However, the countries are likely to include neighbouring South Eastern nations. The demand for BMW models has seen a major plunge in these neighbouring countries.
The luxury brand had a lot more to offer at the Guangzhou Auto Show, with the introduction of three new models. 1.85 million RMB BMW M5, 5-series which was priced around 666,000 RMB and the locally manufactured X1 made their way to the event. X1 is powered by a 2-litre, 4 cylinder turbo engine. The price for BMW X1 was not revealed, however, the expected cost will be around 300,000 RMB of its base variant.
BMW's China sales have reached a figure of more than 100,000 units for the locally manufactured BMW 3-Series and BMW 5-Series. The yearly sales for BMW is expected to increase by 15% to 20% compared to the 2010 sales figures that were around 169,000 of all BMW models in China.
Thus, the German-based car maker is gearing to up the ante in automobile markets of neighbouring nations, keeping China as its base.
