The first official images of the 2016 BMW 7 Series have been leaked online ahead of its global debut on June 10, 2015. The luxury sedan will be launched in the European market later this year, while it will hit the Indian shores by 2016.

Based on an all-new ‘35up’ platform, the next-gen 7 Series will be 130kgs lighter than the current model, thanks to the carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) that BMW calls 'Carbon Core' technology. This technology helps improve the engine response, fuel efficiency while reducing CO2 emissions. Powering the 2016 7 Series will be an all-new 257bhp, 3.0-litre diesel engine for B57 variant and a 3.0-litre petrol unit for 740i trim. Transmission on offer will remain the same – an 8-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox – that is tuned for better feedback.
