The Honda Brio marked Honda’s entry in the entry level cars. Being always associated with expensive premium cars the company needed a car for the masses. The Brio was launched as an entry level hatch but then Honda knew that even the range starting vehicle should boast of the same quality standards that its other cars are famous for. The Honda Brio is available at a price range of Rs. 4.36 to Rs. 6.46 lakhs. It is available in 7 variants including one automatic variant.

Honda Brio Vs Volkswagen Polo Exterior

The front profile is very reminiscent of the Jazz, looks like a scaled down version of it. The headlights have a pearl drop effect and have the indicators integrated in them. There is a very definite jaw line to the car and cause of the line running just below the petite radiator grille; it gives a very nice profile to it.

The radiator grille looks like a nose with the solid chrome Honda badging on it, the bumper has a broad and wide slit which looks like a teeth set, different from the mundanely and conventionally designed, which gets very predictable. There are subtle profile lines on the front hood giving it a good but not too loud character.

The Volkswagen Polo has a very sharp design with well defined edges and cut. It looks much matured in comparison to Brio. The Polo has the looks of a ultra modern hatch with its racing stance. It has a sleek profile. It has got its doze of facelifts and design upgrades which has kept the Polo fresh.

Honda Brio Vs Volkswagen Polo Interior

Inside the Honda Brio, The cabin is as plush and upmarket as any other Honda car, which is very impressive. One can hardly find any negative aspect in the cabin and it is full of positive vibes. The quality of plastics is superb and one does not feel of it as a entry level vehicle at all. The steering wheel of our S (O) MT variant had audio controls affixed on it. The instrumental panel is very sporty with the Speedometer taking the central position. The digits done on it are very sporty and are way better than what the competitors offer. In fact, this unit is way better than the one on Fiat Grande Punto which comes at a hefty price tag. I loved the color combination used for in the display.

Inside the Polo, the interiors are done in two colors. Black and beige theme is the chief highlight of the interior design. Leather upholstery further adds stylish and luxurious character to the car. Besides, the central locking control is positioned close to driver’s door for convenience. Moreover, door pockets are spacious enough for placing water bottles and other articles conveniently

The Honda Brio comes equipped with a PFM-Fi 1198 cc SOHC i-VTEC engine, which produces 88 PS of power at 6000 RPM and a torque of 109 Nm at 4600 RPM. It is assimilated with a 5 speed manual transmission. The engine of the Brio is super smooth, which becomes an issue as one cannot make out if the engine is running or not. The 1.2 L engine may be a pint and detuned version of the Jazz unit but then it is a fun motor.

The Volkswagen Polo has a 3 cylinder 1198 cc petrol engine which produces a power of 74 bhp at 5400 RPM and a torque of 110 Nm at 3750 RPM. Volkswagen claims a mileage of 16.47 Kmpl.

Honda Brio Vs Volkswagen Polo Conclusion

Honda Brio has already attracted positive reviews for its offerings. The entry level small car market which normally was not an exciting segment has got spiced up. With the raising petrol prices the once upon a time adamant on diesel Honda has finally expressed its plans of a diesel Brio soon. Trusted insiders reveal that Honda is eyeing the festive season for the launch of the diesel variant with its i-DTEC engine.

The Polo is a premium hatch but then some claim it is an expensive hatch to maintain in the long run. Also, the spares of this one are priced higher. The merits of Polo remain its strong performance and great handling. It claims to have the best one in the segment. Clearly, if it is a cute hatch you want Brio it is and a performer you wish for Polo it is
