The upcoming SUV Volkswagen Taigun features a bigger and bolder stance. The exteriors are vibrant with rugged side panels, under-body protection and roof rails. The Brazil showcased version featured LED lights on roof rails and 17-inch alloys, though the street version may vary. The infotainment system inside the car is stated to be compatible with variety of smart-phones. The smart air-cons feature a temperature display inside the nozzle and can be adjusted for blower and air speed. Official specifications for the car are yet to be received and shall only be declared when the car is launched at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo event. The Volkswagen Taigun is expected to be powered by 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine. The engine generates a good 110PS of power and 175Nm of torque. The diesel version may feature a 1.4litre, 3 cylinder engine. Under the hood, this SUV features turbo chargers and direct injection technology to deliver an impressive fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl in Petrol, whereas the Diesel version is more fuel efficient. Moreover, the car claims to reach a top speed of 185 kmpl in just less than 9.2 seconds, which is an astonishing feat to be achieved by an SUV that weighs around 985 kgs!
Renault Duster has always been the preferred choice ever since its inception in the country a while ago. The SUV during its launch was offered at a lucrative price tag, with add-on factors like quality build and reliability assurance by the car-maker. Gone are the days when Renault Duster had to compete with Ford Ecosport solely. Off late many other car-makers have attempted to tap this compact SUV segment with much vigor. As per sources, the new car is expected to be powered with 1.6 litre engine that generates about 105 Hp at 5,750 rpm and produces a maximum torque of 148 Nm at 3,750 rpm. It is also said that the car may feature double optic headlamps with LED daytime running lights, and a redesigned front grill with new air intake system. On the interiors, seats have been redesigned for better comfort and the dashboard features a smarter appeal.
