      Toyota Kirloskar registers 55 percent growth in Feb 2011

      Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the Indian subsidiary of Japan based leading car maker Toyota, has witnessed a 55 percent growth in its sales during February 2011. The company managed to sell 9,308 units of its cars in Feb 2011 as compared to 5,993 units in Feb last year. In the period of January to February 2011, total sales of the company stood at 18,509 units as against 11,982 units sold in the same month last year, accounting for a sales increase of over 54 percent over the same period previous year.

      While speaking on the performance of the company during the month, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) at TKM said, “We are very happy with the growth registered this month. This is largely driven by the sale of Etios with 2,786 units. We have sold 4,844 units since its launch in Dec 2010.”

      Meanwhile, the company is all set to launch its much awaited compact hatchback Toyota Etios Liva in the Indian market in April 2011. The Liva hatchback will be rolled-out in the price bracket of Rs 4 to 5 lakh where it will be competing with the likes of Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Beat and Nissan Micra.
