The year 2015 seems to be completely dedicated to crossovers as most manufacturers have lined up products in this genre. Apart from the regular launches in the hatchback, sedan and SUV segments, the manufacturers have started focussing on cross models. This segment is a new entrant in the market and has been growing in popularity ever since the launch of high-performing cars like EcoSport, Mobilio and Ertiga. Let us look at some of the most-anticipated cross vehicles, which are slated to debut this season.

Maruti has finally come up with a car, which will be able to compete with the EcoSport. The YBA compact SUV will be sub-four metre long and is expected to come with heavily stylised and muscular exteriors. The overall structure of the car will be based on the Suzuki iV-4 SUV concept. The Maruti YBA crossover will also be packed with a lot of features to take on the EcoSport.

Hyundai is supposedly all set to launch the compact SUV ix25 and will be an ideal example of a crossover. Though, it might not be called by the same, the car has the size and dimension as that of the Duster. The car comes with surprisingly bold design elements with wrap-around headlamps. The model will be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol as well as diesel engines, which are used in the Verna. The transmission systems are expected to be identical with the Verna with five-speed and six-speed manual transmission patterns as the standard and five-speed automatic as an option.

      Maruti Suzuki S-Cross

Maruti might also bring the S-Cross model this year, to grab hold of this segment in a more firm manner. This large, high-riding crossover car was showcased at the Delhi Expo in 2014 and looked more like a crossover hatch rather than a full-version SUV. The car is extremely capacious, well-featured and offers a comfortable ride. It is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol as well as diesel engine mated to manual gearboxes. The All-Wheel Drive option will give the car its off-roading options better. It is expected to rival the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra XUV500.
