Tata’s upcoming cars in India, compact sedan Zest and Bolt hatchback will be shipped to international markets after September. Launch of both the cars is expected in the coming months. Both the cars were revealed at the 2014 Auto Expo where they grabbed attention of the auto enthusiasts. Speculations suggest that Zest and Bolt can also make an appearance at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show which will begin in March. However, the company has not confirmed it yet. With Bolt and Zest Tata envisages shedding off its image of a conventional car maker. Emphasis has been given more on the design, quality and performance in the new cars from Tata’s stable like Zest, Bolt and Nexon compact SUV concept.

Zest and Bolt will be proffered with automated manual transmission which is currently being offered in the Maruti’s new hatchback Celerio. Response for AMT version of Celerio makes clear that AMT is being appreciated by the customers in India. Maruti became a pioneer by launching the AMT equipped car first, however Tata could be the first car maker to offer AMT in a compact sedan with Zest. AMT will first be available in diesel variants of Zest and Bolt followed by the petrol version. Tata Motors also plans to affix AMT in its line up in the coming time.

The only compact sedan that Tata has in its clan of cars as of now is the Indigo eCS. Tata Indica hatchback has been present in the B segment for over a decade now. Despite being an old player in the hatchback segment it has not been able to leave a mark. There is no clarity yet on whether the company will discontinue Indigo eCS and Indica after the launch of Zest and Bolt.
