Tata Nano, the cheapest car in the Indian market, may not be receiving overwhelming response in the Indian auto market, but the middle class buyers in a number of overseas markets are waiting wholeheartedly for this small wonder to take their route. Recently, the South American nation Brazil expressed its interest in taking this popular car to Brazilian markets.

During his 8 day visit of India, the Governor of Brazil’s second most populous state, Minas Gerais met Tata Motors Chairman Ratan Tata in Mumbai. Speaking at a CII event, he said, "We would very much like to take Tata Nano to Brazil." He added, Brazil and India already have good relationships. We want to strengthen them a lot more. We invite big corporates to invest there.

After launching the car in the neighboring markets like Sri Lanka and Nepal, the company is now considering on starting assembly operations of the car in the overseas market, after exporting it through CKD (completely knocked down unit) route.

It has been a roller-coaster ride for Nano in the Indian market for more than two years of its launch in the country. After surging-up to a high of 9,000 units in July 2010, it dipped to mere 509 units in the month of November 2010.
