Tata Nano, the popular small car that has been tagged as the cheapest car in the world, is going to mark its debut in yet another neighboring market Bangladesh on Saturday. However, the car will not be among the cheapest in that market, costing nearly 200 percent higher as compares to the price in the Indian market. It is to be mentioned here that Tata Motors has already launched Nano model in the neighboring countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The company has appointed Nitol Motors as the sole distributor of the Nano model in Bangladesh, where the base model of the car will be costing Rs 599,000 taka ($7,900). Speaking to the reporters, Abdul Matlub Ahmad, Director of Nitol Motors, said, "We are now taking orders for Tata Nano. Initially we'll sell 3,000 Nano cars. We hope it will be a big hit in Bangladesh."

The car importers in Bangladesh have to pay a massive 132 percent import duty on cars, making even the small cars of Maruti Suzuki highly expensive. Mr. Ahmad added that the price will come down once the firm starts assembling the car in Bangladesh. If the car becomes popular in Bangladesh, Tata has a plan to manufacture the car locally."
