The homegrown automaker, Tata Motors is gearing up to launch two new hatchbacks in the country in 2015. The first model to come will be the Bolt hatchback, which is expected to go on sale in January, 2015. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the Bolt hatchback is based on the thoroughly modified X1 platform which also underpins the Zest compact sedan.

The second hatchback to hit the Indian shores will be an all-new hatchback. Codenamed as 'Kite', the new hatchback will rival against the likes of Maruti Celerio, Chevrolet Beat, Datsun Go and Hyundai i10. This hatchback will be positioned between the Nano and the Bolt. This hatchback has already been spotted several times during its test rounds on Indian roads.

The Tata Kite will go on sale in the country by the end of 2015, and is likely to be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. If media reports are to be believed, the Kite could get Tata’s new 1.05-litre 3-cylinder common rail diesel unit. This motor will be paired to a five-speed manual gearbox and is likely to develop 64.01bhp of power. The gasoline model will get an all-new 1.2L petrol unit that also powers the Zest and Bolt. This model is also likely to get CNG and LPG fuel options. There could be an AMT-equipped variant to compete against Celerio AMT and Alto K10 AMT.

The Tata Bolt hatchback will also be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. The oil burner is the 1.3L multi-jet motor, while the gasoline version gets the 1.2L Revotron engine. A five-speed manual gearbox will come as standard, while the AMT version will be offered with diesel variant.
