Renault unveils its first pickup truck - Duster Oroch

Renault’s first ever pickup truck – Duster Oroch – has finally made its global debut at the Buenos Aires Motor Show. The Renault Duster Oroch will be exclusively sold in the South American market, where it is scheduled to go on sale late this year. Designed by Renault Design Latin America, the vehicle was first previewed as a concept at the 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil.

Based on the Duster SUV, the Oroch looks largely similar to the former. The pickup will feature single slat grille with ‘Duster’ nameplate, sporty bumpers, C-Pillar and new tail lamps, similar to the Duster. Though, it has unique ‘Oroch’ badging under the lozenge and an attractive double cab pickup body style. The pickup has load capacity of 650kgs, and a volumetric capacity of 683-liters. It measures 1.35 meters in length.

The Oroch takes its interior design inspiration from the Duster. It gets all-black interior with silver accents, piano black trim, infotainment system with MediaNAV 7-inch display and navigation and 3-spoke steering wheel with control buttons.

Powering the Renault Duster Oroch is a 1.6-litre and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engines that also do duty to the Duster SUV. While the former, with a 5-speed manual transmission, produces a maximum power of 115bhp, the latter with a 6-speed manual gearbox offers 148bhp and 177.5Nm. A 4-speed automatic transmission will be available only on the 2.0-liter engined variants. Both 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrain systems will also be on offer.
