Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has announced that its popular automatic scooter – the Activa – has achieved a milestone by crossing the 1 crore sales mark ever since its launch in 2001. The company also revealed that the Activa has been the top-selling two-wheeler in the country for the last two months, i.e. June and July, 2015. The Honda Activa, that currently commands 59 percent of market share in the scooter segment, has registered over 2.1 million units sales in the last fiscal year. This Activa range consists of 3 different models – Activa 125, Activa i and Activa 3G.
Just so you know, Honda 2Wheelers launched the third-generation of the Activa – the Honda Activa 3G – on February 4, 2015. The Activa 3G is powered by a 110cc, single-cylinder engine that is mated to a CVT automatic gearbox. It churns out a maximum power of 7.8bhp and a peak torque of 8.74Nm. This engine is boasted with Honda’s Eco Technology (HET) that helps it return a fuel efficiency of 60kmpl. It features new indicators, revised side panels and tail-lamp with a new 3D badge on either sides.
