      Numerous Launches Lined Up for 2012

      There are many cars lined up for the year 2012. Some of the prominent automobile manufacturers, such as Renault, Chevrolet, Fiat, Honda, Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar Motors and Audi, are going to come up with their latest models. Most of these manufacturers are going to launch there new models in the Auto Expo 2012 to be held in New Delhi.

      Renault is to build the Dacia Duster with right-hand drive, initially for India. Further, the company confirmed that the SUV will also be available in UK towards the end of 2012. It will be powered by the Renault DCI engine of 85 hp and 105 hp. Along with having the Nissan-sourced all-wheel drive management, this can also has Bosch ABS brake control that keeps the duster under control. Furthermore, Renault India will also launch the Renault Koleos Crossover SUV. This crossover SUV will take on the likes of Honda CR-V Crossover, Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavor and the Chevrolet Captiva.

      General Motors has revealed that they do have plans to expand their operations in India. The Chevrolet Spark 800, which is already available in some countries, will be launched in India in 2012. In India, there is an existing model of Chevrolet Spark which has a 1 Litre petrol MPFI engine that delivers a maximum power of 63 bhp and maximum torque of about 90 nm. The 800 cc car which is to be launched by GM Motors will compete with Hyundai 800i, which will also be revealed near the launch of Spark 800 in India.

      The Tata Dolphin, which is larger than Tata Nano and smaller than Tata Indica, is also expected to hit the road by 2012. Moreover, Fiat will roll out revamped models of Fiat Linea and Fiat Grande Punto, to start with their 2012 launches. Commenting on Fiat India’s plans, Rajeev Kapoor, President India Operations, said, “The small car is under development. We had announced earlier that our intention is to launch it in 2012. The exact timing and details will be shared when we will be ready with the product.” He also added “There are different routes and opportunity to launch a model in India and the completely built unit route is one of them. Every route is open to us and we are still evaluating.”

      Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), which has been dealing only with petrol cars in India, will be launching the Honda Accord Diesel in 2012. This may be introduced in India after its launch in Europe. The model will have a below-2 litre capacity diesel engine. Apart from this, the company will also be launching the Honda CR-V Diesel next year, which will be a lighter car with higher fuel efficiency.

      The other cars which are to be launched in the year 2012 are Audi A8 4.2 TDI, Audi Q3 and Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, the diesel version. Besides, in the past couples of years, it has been observed that most of the Indian consumers have opted for the diesel variants, over petrol. Notably, most of the cars which are going to be launched in the year 2012 are diesel models.
