Nissan, the Japanese car manufacturer, is all set to launch the all-wheel drive version of its top-selling SUV- the Terrano. Recently, Renault India launched the Duster AWD variant in the country at Rs. 13 lakh and the vehicle has received a positive response from buyers. Since the Terrano is based upon the Duster, it should not take much time for Nissan to bring in the 4x4 model of the car. Just like the Duster AWD, the Terrano AWD model will be around Rs 1 lakh pricier than the existing top-sped model.

The Terrano AWD is expected to be launched in 2015. The vehicle is expected to be priced around Rs. 14 lakh and might help the company boost its sales. The Terrano AWD will be equipped with the i-Drive Tech Shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system that offers three driving modes- 2WD, Auto and AWD.

The AWD version will be offered with various advanced features including Anti-Slip Regulation, Electronic Torque Control, Electronic Stability Programme and Hill Start Assist. This compact SUV will be powered by the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 110PS and a peak torque of 248Nm. Power is transmitted to all four wheels of the SUV via a six-speed manual transmission gearbox.

The Nissan Terrano AWD variant might also get an advanced MediaNav infotainment interface, slightly tweaked exteriors and interiors, new upholstery for seats, etc.
