Volkswagen is working on a series of new products including SUVs, crossovers and compact sedans for different markets including India. The German luxury carmakers’ main focus is on utility vehicles; however, the maker is readying several cars in other segments as well. The company is also working on the next generation Phaeton, which, according to Auto Motor und Sport magazine, is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2016 or early 2017. If report is to be believed, the next Phaeton will be more comfortable than the Mercedes S-Class, which has been unanimously called ‘the world’s best car’.

The exact details about the new technology and luxurious features offered on the next Phaeton are yet to be revealed. However, it is expected that the next-gen model will get an air suspension which works with camera and sensors to detect road conditions and adjust the suspension accordingly. This technology will give a more comfortable driving in almost all road conditions.

An overtaking function could also make its way in semi-autonomous mode; however, nothing officially has been said on the sameby the car maker.

Like we reported earlier, Volkswagen's Indian subsidiary is also planning to launch several new and facelifted products in the next 2 years. Of all the products that the company will launch, the updated Vento and more powerful versions of the Polo might come sooner than others. The company is also working on a compact SUV to take on the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano.
