The new-generation Honda Jazz will be the first all new product to come out from the stables of Japanese automaker. Aiming to perform well in the premium hatchback, which is currently dominated by Maruti and Hyundai, Honda will concentrate on high fuel efficiency and advanced features.

Powering the new-gen Honda Jazz will be a 1.2-litre, i-VTEC and a 1.5-litre, i-DTEC engines that also power the Amaze. Both the powertrains are quite frugal, and likely to get a 5-speed manual transmission. The hatchback will also be offered in a performance-oriented version, along with the regular variants, that will be powered by a 1.5-litre, i-VTEC engine. It will be paired with a 5-speed CVT gearbox. The performance model might get a paddle shifter, first-in-segment, that will facilitate the gearbox’s manual selection. The paddle shifter has already been imported for testing purpose from Thailand.

The Jazz is recently spotted with 16-inch alloy wheels, also available with the Hyundai i20, that might be offered with its performance model. The company might save the performance version for later, though there is no official word on that.

The CVT model, if launched, will be Rs. 1 lakh pricier than the regular versions. With the high-level of localization, the premium hatchback, Jazz, will be priced competitively against the recently launched Hyundai i20. The hatchback will also take on likes of Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punit Evo, Maruti Swift and the upcoming Maruti YRA.
