In a country where Honda dominates over the scooter market, another leading automobile manufacturer Mahindra has decided to launch its new model. The company expects to taste the same success it got after the launch of its recent product – Gusto, a 110 cc scooter, with this one too. The new model will be based on Gusto but will have completely new body panels. However, some features like flip-key, follow-me lamps, seat height adjustment and front kick-starter will be present in the upcoming model.

The engine of this scooter will be a derivative of the 110cc M – the TEC Engine, present in Gusto. This motor will be an in-house development. You will, sadly, have to wait till the second half of 2015 to see this new product on Indian streets. Notably, the other models in Mahindra’s scooter lineup didn’t give the expected results. The company will surely be very excited as the launch date for this new product comes closer; just as we all are.

An introduction or overview of the base for this new product is due, so, let us have a brief glance at Mahindra Gusto 110 cc. Launched in September 2014, Gusto received a warm welcome from the Indian customers. It was powered by an aluminium engine that later got named as M – TEC. It was Mahindra Two Wheelers’ first in-house model. Summing up, it was a genuine attempt by the firm to mark its presence in India’s scooter segment. With all the Mahindra-special features, the product surely provided a good base for future scooters. Even after a whole lot of features, the scooter was priced at Rs. 47,000. As a outcome, the company surely earned a reputation in the scooter market in India, thanks to Gusto.

We can expect the engine of new 125 cc model to have many similar features as that of the Gusto's engine. But, most probably it would have a better output and efficiency. The new model will surely have to face off some well-established products as it arrives in the competitive Indian market. The main rivals for the 125c c segment would be Honda Activa 125, Swish 125 and Suzuki Access.

Though, the company’s other products failed in the fight against their rivals; Mahindra has high expectations from its upcoming model. The auto maker sure hopes to fulfill its tagline – “rise” in this category as well. The upcoming product will have some large burdens as well. This product may serve as a mike to announce the ambition of Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. to compete and win against the top members in the scooter category – Hero MotoCorp and Honda motorcycle.
