      New generation Superb expected to be showcased at Geneva next year, India launch on cards

      Speculations are rife that the next generation Skoda Superb will be unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show due to start in the first week of March. Skoda says that the new Superb will take design cues from the Skoda VisionC concept showcased earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Upgraded Superb will be based on the the same MQB platform as underpinned by B8 Volkswagen Passat unveiled recently at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

      Skoda could bring new Superb to India in 2016, in its segment, the vehicle will rival the likes of Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Volkswagen Passat. For the iNdian market, new Passat could be priced between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. It has also been learnt that the new Superb will be lighter than its current model, company claims that the new Superb will be around 80 kgs less than its current model. The saloon is likely to get an array of high-end features such as digital instrument cluster offered on the new Passat.

      Power is likely to come from the four cylinder, petrol and diesel engines, borrowed from the 2015 Passat. After the launch of regular variant, a plug-in hybrid version could also be rolled out equipped with the same powertrain as seen in the Passat GTE.
