Fiat India is gearing up to launch a series of new products in India in 2015. The company will launch the Abarth 595 Competezione in the early next year. Moreover, Fiat will also introduce its SUV brand - Jeep - in the country. The company has imported the Jeep Cherokee 4x2 SUV from the UK for research & development purpose.
The imported model is a front wheel drive variant and is propelled by a 2.0-litre Multi-Jet turbo diesel engine. This engine is capable of producing 140/170bhp of peak power and a 350Nm of top torque. The vehicle is also available with a four wheel drive system in international markets, and is also expected to be launched in here.
Fiat India will launch the Jeep Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee in the country next year. Both models will come as completely built up units. Moreover, the company will launch the “C-Segment” SUV in 2016 to rival against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour.
The Fiat’s C-Segment SUV will be a global product and will be exported to other nations from India. It is also expected to come as a replacement for the Patriot and Compass models. The SUV will be based on a monocoque platform and will feature new petrol and turbo diesel engines. A 9-speed automatic gearbox is also expected to be offered on new models.
