Honda Siel Cars India Limited (HSCIL), the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese auto giant Honda Motors, is planning to resume the production to the normal levels by March 2012. It is to be mentioned here that the company has been struggling with disrupted supplies of components, first due to devastating Tsunami in Japanese market and later on the massive flood in the Thai market where the company has its base for component manufacturing.

In a recent statement given to PTI, Honda Siel Cars India Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales) Jsnaneswar Sen, said, "In this ongoing fiscal we have lost about six months of production due to disruption in supply of components following the tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand. Now we have found alternate source from Japan and China."

At present, the annual capacity at the company’s Noida plant is 1.2 lakh units per annum. While further elaborating the firm’s futures plans of the component production in the Indian market, Mr. Sen added, "Our expectation is that in terms of our capability to produce cars, we could reach 10,000 units a month by March -April as part supplies are getting restored but how much we produce will depend on market demand."

Primarily, the company is trying to deliver the car to the customers who have been in the queue for the delivery for a long time now. The company’s latest Brio model, which was launched in the Indian market about a few months back, still has about 8,000 orders pending; as the company has been able to deliver only 2,000 units of the car in the Indian market, so far.
