      Daimler AG to bring new truck range in India under Bharat Benz brand

      Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a fully owned subsidiary of the Mercedes Benz’s parent group Daimler AG, is planning to launch a new range of trucks in the Indian auto market. The new range of trucks of the firm will be rolled-out under the new brand name – Bharat Benz – that was introduced in the Indian auto market at the recently held Delhi Auto Expo 2012. It is to be mentioned here that the Bharat Benz brand is 100 percent owned by Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., which is a 100% subsidiary of Daimler AG.

      The company is all set to launch a large range of 19 trucks in the Indian auto market, which will be in the range of 6 tonnes to 49 tonnes. Moreover, a range of small trucks in the range of 1 tonne to 1.5 tonnes will also be launched by the company.

      Speaking on the matter, DICV’s Vice President (Research & Development), Mr. Aydogan Cakmaz said, "It is possible, but it should make business sense. We will undertake research and development to go for such a product. If at all we decide to enter this segment, it will take at least four to five years to do it. The segment has many players and it would be important for us that the product we offer meets our quality parameters."
