Honda made its presence felt in the MUV segment earlier this year with the launch of Mobilio MPV. The feature loaded car, is the very first one from Honda to be launched in this segment that had been left untouched for a while. Recently, Honda has launched V (O) and RS (O) varinats alongside the present variants namely – S, E and V. The new top end Mobilio RS (O) varinant has only been launched with a diesel engine at a price of about Rs. 11.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The V (O) varinat in petrol is offered at Rs. 9.46 lakhs, whereas the diesel version is priced at Rs. 10.45 Lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki's Ertiga has been a strong player in its segment. Coming from the production line that has delivered affordable and reliable cars over generations, Ertiga has clearly been a strong player in its segment. Available at a starting price of Rs 5.80 lakh, Ertiga is a frugal offering. If the dimensions for the Mobilio and Ertiga are closely followed, it would be evident that Mobilio is a bit longer with 4,386 mm length as compared to the latter’s 4,265 mm of length. While Ertiga offers more width and height-(1,683 mm width and 1,603 mm height), Mobilio does not fall far behind ( 1683 mm wide and 1,603 mm height).
As per the latest sales report, Honda's Mobilio has reportedly sold about 5530 units in August as against 5,491 units of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sold in the same month. The Mobilio MPV from Honda has been a center of attraction ever since it was launched in July this year. The Petrol version of Mobilio is powered by 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine that generates about 117bhp or power with 145Nm of torque. The diesel variant of Mobilio is powered by Honda's 1.5 litre i-DTEC turbo diesel powertrain that generates a maximum power output of 99bhp with a peak torque output of about 200Nm. As per ARAI certification the petrol variant deliver about 17.4Kmpl, whereas diesel version delivers an impressive mileage of 24.2Kmpl.
