      Honda aggressive on Mobilio launch - Should Ertiga be concerned?

      Honda seems to be in a high spirit, riding high on the success of its new City sedan and Amaze compact sedan, there is no stopping for Honda India. After regaining zenith in mid-sized sedan segment, the company is eyeing to captivate compactMPVsegment. Honda displayed its upcoming product range for India at the 12thedition of Auto Expo in February this year. Among the new cars that will it be launching this year,Mobilio MPV is a highly anticipated vehicle.

      Based on Brio hatchback, Mobilio will collide head on with the segment best, Eritga MPV. Ertiga has been available for sale in India since April 2012, theMPVnot just made a niche forMSIinMPVsegment but it also toppled the long reigning MPV from Toyota Innova. In order to give a strong competition to Ertiga, Honda will have to bestow Mobilio with ample features and yet keep the Mobilio range within the reach of common man.

      What could give Mobilio an edge over Ertiga is its enhanced length.Mobilo will measure 4.4 meters, longer than its arch rival Ertiga that has a length of 4.2 meters, though marginally but Mobilio scores more here. It also implies that on space front Mobilio will offer enhanced cabin space than Ertiga. Under the hood will be a 1.5 litre i-DTECdiesel motor that promises 98Bhpand 200Nm. A high fuel economy of 25.8kms in a litre is delivered by the diesel motor.

      Honda has adapted an aggressive marketing strategy forMobilio. To generate curiosity among the customers for its upcomingMPV, the auto maker has already updated its official site with Mobilio’s details. However, nothing much has been revealed about the MPV except for few images which shows exteriors and interiors of the vehicle. Besides these, interested customers can also fill out their information in case they want to be contacted by the Honda representatives to know more onMPV. Mobilio will be proffered in three row layout, the rear bench will come with 60:40 split and could be folded to get into the third row. The second as well as third rows can be folded completely to create more space inside the cabin.
