Being the part of a sports car’s design team is great and not-so-great in a lot of ways. While you get to accomplish something that only a few people in the world can do, the car takes all the limelight and popularity. However, your peers and fellow professionals recognize and value you for what you brought to the table. Same is the case with a certain Luc Donckerwolke, who has overseen the conceptualisation and designing of Lamborghini models Gallardo and Murcielago, which is nothing short of spectacular. After a stint with Lamborghini, Donckerwolke shifted to Bentley, which is also owned by the Volkswagen Group like the former.

One of the Belgian’s latest accomplishments is the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept that was awarded the “Design Award for Concept Car & Prototypes.” A couple of other cars were also designed under the supervision of Donckerwolke, Bentayga Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and Continental GT next generation. Recently, the Belgian designer left the German automobile giant and joined to Hyundai, according to several reports. The reason behind this decision is unknown.

Hyundai, like the Volkswagen Group, lost a big design team figure in the form of Peter Schreyer, who is responsible for bringing to surface the Kia brand. Now, reports claim that the 63-year old will be heading out and will be succeeded by Donckerwolke.

As far as Bentley is concerned, it has appointed a new Design Director in Stefan Sielaff, who will join the firm from July. Speaking on the same, Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman at Bentley, said, “Bentley is entering one of the most important phases in the company’s history, with significant plans for new models. With his experience, creative vision and passion for the Bentley brand Stefan Sielaff is perfectly placed to lead the design of our future models”
