Chevrolet Beat Diesel, the much awaited small hatchback in the Indian market, will be launched in the Indian market today in Mumbai. It is to be mentioned here that the Beat model is already available in the petrol and versions in the country. However, the absence of diesel variant has made its position quite weaker against the rivals like Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo, etc.
The Beat diesel will come powered by a 1.0L diesel engine that will be capable of delivering a maximum power of 57 bhp along with a peak torque of 157 Nm torque. Moreover, the car is claimed to be offering an exceptional mileage of 24 kmpl.
The Petrol version of the car was launched at the Delhi Auto expo in January 2010, where it had received a staggering response from the car enthusiasts and visitors. What remains to be seen is the response that the diesel variant of Beat will be receiving from the Indian buyers.
Considering the rising demand for diesel run cars in the small car segment, the Beat diesel is expected to be a big hit in the Indian auto market. The car is expected to be carrying a starting price tag of Rs 4 lakh in the country.
