Chevrolet Beat diesel, one of the most awaited cars in the Indian market, is all set to hit the Indian roads in the first week of July, as speculated in recent media reports. The car will be one of the cheapest diesel run cars in the Indian market. Before this, the car was speculated to hit the Indian roads in the month of June. The launch of diesel version of the car will not only strengthen the position of Beat series in the Indian market but will also enable it to compete more promptly with its rivals that are already available in both petrol and diesel versions such as Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Nissan Micra and Fiat Punto.
The Beat diesel will come powered by a 1.0L engine which will be delivering a peak power of 55-57 bhp and over 15 kgm of torque. The fuel economy of the car is expected to be in the range of 22 kmpl to 24 kmpl, giving a tough fight to the current most fuel efficient diesel run car, Tata Indica eV2.
The car is expected to be priced about Rs 50,000 more than its petrol counterpart in the segment of sub Rs 5 lakh.
